Preparing for Our Children‘s Future

A few days ago, my wife and I talked about our children’s education. Particularly, with Gelo’s academic problem. We’re so worried with Gelo’s school standing lately. During his first year in high school, his grades went down and hardly made it in the line of eighty. My eldest son Gelo used to have good grades before, because my wife still have time to tutor him during weekends and after coming home from work. Now Thea will be going to school this coming June, we’re worrying how to squeeze our time for our children, since our works now require more of our time. These really concern us both; we want our children to be able to finish college with good grades and be prepared to the challenges of the future. That’s why we’re planning to get a tutor for them so that someone will be able to assist them with their studies.

Ahead's Parent Orientation Invitation

Last Tuesday, I was invited to attend a short parent orientation about the value of children’s college education. It was held at Ahead Review and Tutorial Center along Kalayaan Ave. at the Fort. I’m so glad I was invited because I realized that, most of the top ranking international companies’ only hire graduates from the top universities in the country. According to Ms. Chi Achacoso these are graduates coming from universities that bares the colors … Blue, Maroon, Green only. I already knew she was pertaining to the following schools: Blue for Ateneo University, Maroon for UP (University of the Philippines) and Green for the De La Salle University. Yes, it sounds a little bias I said to myself but it’s the truth. Ms. Chi discussed to us, the importance of graduating from these top universities. Yes, we do dreamed our children will finish college on one of these universities, and I believe premier college education will give them a better future and getting better chances of landing a good job.But she asked us, are your children ready for the admission examination?

Why Review?

“Why review?” Ms. Chi said. She explained that these three top schools prepare “Extremely Competitive Exams”. The college admission test is the most important exam, student will take in their lives. Because they can take it only once and unlike employment, bar or board exams - there is no repeat. Furthermore, based on her ratio presented; out of 100,000 students who took the exams only 10% of them will pass. She also discussed how the review should be done, and why should parent should seek professional help to make sure that their children are prepared.

Then she introduced to us AHEAD, I was impressed with the methods applied by the AHEAD Review and Tutorial Center to their students. They said, they always give the right preparation for the right exam. Students may cover and review on their own, the whole topic about math for two months but still not be thoroughly prepared for the algebra exam. They train their students how to take the actual exams thru simulation and diagnostic exams. They will only practice and prepare for the exam the will be taking.

When is the right time to prepare our kids for the College Admission Test?

After the discussion, Ms. Rossana Llenado President of AHEAD Review and Tutorial Center open-up the floor for questions. I have question in-mind but she accidentally answered it from another question from one of the parents. I would like to ask her…”When would be the right time to prepare for the College Admission Test?” She answered, “A year before the actual exam would be a right and convenient time for the review. This will the student to practice more about the exam and eliminate cramming as well." She also added that we are assured that their student will be trained by qualified lecturers coming only from these three (3) top universities. Impressive isn't it? That's why I will not hesitate to save some money for the review when my son Gelo reach 3rd Year. So what do you think?

Keeping your kids busy this summer.

After Thea’s graduation a few weeks ago, I was wondering of what activities to keep her busy this summer. I don’t want her to get stuck on watching movies or playing computer games in our internet shop. I really would like to make her summer experience fun but educational. A common summer activity for kids is usually swimming, but yesterday a friend invited me to a free trial of an Art lesson in Global Art Katipunan. It was a very fruitful and relaxing experience for me when I was introduce to Elber Or, Director of Global Art Katipunan. They let me experience some of their lessons under the Foundation Level and Advance Program.

Learning Oil Pastel

First, I was asked to copy and draw an image of a dolphin using a pencil. At first I thought it will be easy, but when they asked me to color the dolphin that I drew using an oil pastel, it was really a mess. Here’s some photos of what had happened on my trial lessons:

They let me drew the dolphin on my own way. It was easy for me because I use to draw and sketch during my teenage years. Although it was way back 1990's my last sketching stint, I managed to drew a successful dolphin....Lols.

Everything was going fine after they let us color the dolphin using oil pastels, in which I thought it was easy.

If this dolphin is real, he'll curse me as its creator...

After a few pointers about how to color using an oil pastel, I was able to redeemed my reputation. They instructed me me to use three shades of color that I pick and apply it in one stroke. "Up and Down... Up and Down... Up and Down...", then afterwards...

My Sugar Went Up Again Tsk Tsk Tsk....

It started early weeks of March, 2011, I been feeling awful at work. I often have headaches. That’s why I decided to consult a doctor last March 17, and requested our HMO Clinic - Fortune Care for an Annual Physical Examination have some lab examination for my sugar. I’m very grateful that our Fortune Care HMO granted my request. I discovered that my sugar went up to 358 mg/dL in which it is twice the above normal sugar level (126 mg/dL). That’s I was force to lessen my carbohydrate intake and lessen my rice consumption from 1 cup to ½ cup only. I was advised to do some exercises and make sure that I don’t miss my medicine. One reason why my sugar went up… it’s because I stop taking my medicines for almost two weeks.

Meantime, while waiting on my result I noticed that the Fortune Care nurses really look professional on their new blue nursing uniform. The scrub tops really matches the shade of the clinics and company logos. The nursing scrub really looks very comfortable on them.

Good thing my company Going Straight, enrolled us to Fortune Care Health Services. All my laboratory examinations and consultation was all taken care of by Fortune Care. I only spent for my transportation and medicine. I would like to thanks in this post the Fortune Care doctors and nurses at Imus Branch. Fortune care nurses are very approachable; they always talk to you with a smile. They were very accommodating.

Second Thoughts on Buying a Motorcycle

I've been planning to buy a motorcycle since last year to save some money from transportation. My wife always disagree with me because there's a lot of fatal motorcycle accident in Dasmariñas City. After her cousin's husband loss I couldn't blame her. But I always don't listen to her, not after seeing this accident with my own eyes.

This picture was taken early this morning a bus hit a motorcycle and the motorcycle driver was rush right away to the hospital.

Starting today, I will never insist my wife on buying one and I would rather save my life than save money for my transportation.

Some Thoughts on Regine Velesquez and Christine Hermosa's Wedding Gowns

I know it's kind of late, but the Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid nuptial held last December 22, 2010 at The Peak, Terrazas De Punta Fuego is probably one of the star studded showbiz events for 2010 and safe to say it's the wedding of the year for 2010. To bad I have missed to follow during the holiday season as I was so very busy with a lots of thing online and offline. Anyway, it just came across in our (wife) conversation about the wedding dress of the bride in which it was designed by Monique Lhuillier the red gown. It was stunningly beautiful with the fare complexion of the bride. We've just notice that the RED gown was kinda daring to wear as a wedding dress for a Filipina. But it turned-out to be really great on her . Well congratulation to great couple.

A month after, another showbiz wedding was held in Batangas. It was Kristine Hermosa and Oyo Boy Sotto's Nuptial last January 12, 2011, at the Club Balai Isabel in Talisay, Batangas. We thought she would be wearing a pink wedding gown on her walk to the altar. But we're surprised she wore a beautiful and elegant white wedding gown other the what we saw on a cover page of the Metro Wedding Magazine on January 2011 issues. Note, it was already Kristine's 2nd marriage. The 27-year-old actress was previously married to actor Diether Ocampo in 2004, but they filed an annulment the following year. Their marriage was annulled last February 2009.

Then after a while our discussion went on about planning and designing our own pink wedding invitation few years from now. But these are some random thoughts I wanted to share with you guys What do think about two nuptial? Who do you think will be next prominent celebrities will be sending wedding invitation for 2011?

My New Year Resolutions

Each new year has always been a time for looking back to the past, and more importantly, forward to the coming year. 2010 has been fruitful for me and to my family. I'm very thankful, that last 2010 the good Lord gave me my youngest daughter Anaya, and I was able to close several projects for Qlick Cafe. Now it's time to look forward for another year positively, and I'm looking forward accomplishing my two (2) new year resolutions.

1. Get Fit and Join Fun Runs this year. - This year I really wanted to get back in shape. I really need be fit to avoid complications from my diabetes.I'm planning to go down from 218lbs to 180lbs at the end of the year. With the help of the internet I'll be watching out for fun runs and joining healthy blogging activities this year.

2. I will save some money for my MCSE Certification. I'm planning before the end year, I will take up MCSE training and hopefully will pass the exams, too. I will save at least 1000 per month for the training and the exam before end of the year. What a refreshing drink!

I just drank a bottle of Minute Maid Pulpy. They say it’s got ‘no preservatives added’. Aw, c’mon…It’s bottled juice. Is that even possible? Tron Legacy: My First 3D Movie Experience

Last December 16, 2010, I was able to view the Tron Legacy movie courtesy of a friend blogger Leira Pagaspas. It was my first 3D movie experience and first to watch movie at the IMAX theater SM Mall of Asia. It was fun experience, the theater gave us 3D glass in which I thought of bringing it home as souvenir but the guard stop me at the lobby, LOL! I like the 3D effects, it really gave me the feel of the movie. Meantime, below is a sneak-peak of Tron Legacy:

Dasmariñas is a First Class City

Although It’s kind of late but, I would like to thank Alaxan FR for the Free Ticket we’ve won from their fan page. My wife and I had a great time and enjoyed watching the fight in a big screen without the annoying commercial break.

Krispy Kreme for Breakfast

We left Dasmariñas City, at around 6:30pm and arrived at the SM Mall of Asia past 8 in the morning. We knew the fight will not exactly starts as indicated in the ticket, we took the time to have breakfast at Krispy Kreme near the theater. We ordered the new “Pull Aparts” pastries from Krispy Kreme, my wife order for a mocha tall size coffee and a “Pull Aparts – Saugsage and Cheese” while I order for a coffee and Bacon & Cheese Pull.

Prefight Tour at the Mall of Asia

We order for a take-out and decided toeat it inside the cinema. Before we went inside the cinema we were able to take photos of models from the fight sponsors. Some of the prominent sponsors endorse by Manny Pacquiao were Rexona, Master, and Motolite outside the cinema’s lobby. We went inside at around 5 minutes before 9AM, yet they still showing some prefight interview from Manny’s and Margarito’s camp. I remember hearing Anthonio Margarito’s calling Pacman’s a “B!TCH” (forgive the word) during an interview in front of his kid, in which the crowd got disappointed and angry , "BOO!" Margarito. The exhibition fight started with one of our contender Juan Martin "Bai" Elorde lost his first international fight in three of the undercard bouts featured in the Manny Pacquiao-Antonio Margarito 12-round title showdown at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. But the other two undercard fighter, Dennis Laurente and Richie Mepranum defeated their respective American opponents in this event.

The Prefight Matches

In the event, it was also featured Brandon Rios vs. Omri Lowther fight which won by Rios by TKO at round 5. Guillermo Rigondeaux vs. Ricardo Cordoba fight was won by Guillermo Rigondeaux by split decision. Afterwards, the Mike Jones vs. Jesus Soto Karass heated the right at round 2 after Jones lands at least 50 power shots while Karass does his best to keep just busy enough to keep the fight from stopping. Jones tires with 30 seconds left and Karass swings the momentum back in his favor to keep the round from being 10-8. Karass is cut over his right eye. The fight ended with Mike Jones by majority decision.

The Main Event Pacquaio vs. Margarito

The Pacquiao vs. Margarito fight started at around 12 noon, and the crowd goes frenzy inside the cinema everytime Manny Pacquiao showup in the screen prior the main event introduction it was like he was all their inside the cinema. At the start of each event 2 models or sexy round girls also heated the event from the fight sponsors. It was clearly a fight favored Manny, from the first 6 rounds. Although, at round 6, Margarito chases and Manny is picking him off. Margarito is now lumbering in and Manny is too accurate for Margarito to avoid. Pacquiao is giving Margarito no rest period. When Margarito pauses to regroup, Manny plants three shots to the head. Great finish to the round when Margarito rips off two clean body punches. Pacquiao retreats to the corner and Margarito starts off a thrilling exchange. Pacquiao looked to be in trouble for a second but he made it out. The crowd was a bit silence during this rounds, but Pacquiao recovers and end the fight with 119-109 score winning the fight on a unanimous decision.

We ate lunch at around 2pm already, and arrived back home 4pm still feeling the chill from the Pacquiao Vs. Margarito fight. Before I end this post can you share your experience on how did you watch the fight? Thanks.

A Dad's Tips in Treating your Children’s Cough, Colds & Flu

Last week my children have been suffering from cold, cough and flu for almost a week now. It started with Sam (Summer) having fever for two days, then my eldest daughter Thea, and lately my eldest son and youngest daughter Gelo and Anaya. Ever since, I’m often the first one they (people from my home) call to deal with this kind of problems.

I’ve learned these simple remedies from my sister-in-law when I’m sick or someone in the household is ill. I stayed with my brother’s house for almost the whole of my childhood years. In which, I became independent and learned a lot of things from them like cooking, household chores, and nursing with these kind of illnesses in which what I’m today. Anyways, here’re some simple tips and remedies I wish to share in handling this common household illnesses:

Colds

The common cold is one of the most commonly household occurring illnesses at home. The common cold produces mild symptoms usually lasting only 5-10 days. For this common illnesses I usually do the following remedies before I seek for medical help.

Care & Treatment Tips

1. Make sure to drink plenty of fluids to help break up the nasal congestion and prevent dehydration.

2. Fluids might include water, sports drinks, fruit drinks, or ginger tea. My sister-in-law used to cook us “sopas” or macaroni soup when we have these symptoms. It really can help rehydrate those lost fluids from mucus secretion rather preparing fried chicken or dried dishes.
3. Inhaled steam may also ease your congestion and drippy nose.
4. Most of all take plenty of rest.

Don’ts

1. Avoid strenuous activities.
2. Stay away from places with high temperatures such beaches or your kitchen.

Fever & Flu

If common colds will not be contain immediately it may lead to fever or flu. I take extra precaution in managing fever because this may lead to convulsion if not monitored or managed properly. Because normal body temperature is only between 35.5–37.0 °C, if my children’s temperatures reaches 40°C or above, I seek for medical help right away. I would suggest to have a clinical thermometer handy at home.

Care & Treatment Tips

1. Same with colds, make sure to drink plenty of water to rehydrate the lost fluid from the body heat.
2. I often take oral medicine such as paracetamol to manage the temperature. Tablets for adults and drops or syrups for my children.
3. Manage body temperature by giving cold compress to head .Sponge or towel bath will help lower the temperature, emphasizing on armpits, bikini and head.
4. Make sure to change into fresh clothes after your sponge or towel bath.
5. Bed rest is a must.

Cough

Cough for adults I often or suggest to take herbal medicines. The two common herbal medicines that I often use for cough are Lagundi and Oregano.

Lagundi is one of the ten herbal medicines endorsed by the Philippine Department of Health as an effective herbal medicine with proven therapeutic value. It’s good for relief of asthma & pharyngitis. It is also a good treatment of cough, colds, fever and flu and other bronchopulmonary disorders.

Oregano is another herbal alternative. The most useful parts of this plant are its leaves. The extracts and juices of the leaves are used for asthma, dyspepsia, chronic coughs, bronchitis, and rheumatism. I usually used its leaves for treatment of my asthma when I was in elementary and high school.

I would say that although herbs are generally safer than chemical, but one really should also be careful when putting herbs and herbal supplements to medicinal use. Herbal medicines are ideal for preventive and home care remedies, but we can’t just ignore or disregard the effectiveness of synthetic medicines when taken properly.

For my children, I tried giving them Oregano but often became a tag-o-war between me and my children. If you don’t have any trouble with children taking herbal medicine I would suggest you continue to do so. Otherwise if you intend to give cough syrups or chemical medicine to your children I would advise to take extreme caution on these kinds of medicines.I would suggest you ask for a prescription first before giving it to them even though is available over the counter. Chemical medicine may have side effects on your children. Don’t just rely on others advised or what you see on TV. Advertisement today can be deceiving and exaggerating, regarding of its effectiveness, and safety of its medicine.So if you gonna asked me what to give my children for cough... herbal or synthetic? I would suggest to consult your doctor before you give them cough medicine. But if you will have no trouble giving them herbal medicine go with the herbal medicine.

That’s why I rush out that day on my lunchbreak and look for a Watson Drugstore near to my office. It took me 3 branches to locate a branch that still giving away the Pacquiao’s shirt. On the third drugstore, I was able to get one but not exactly my size, because the largest size is LARGE. The Visconde Massacre Recall

If you could recall, the Vizconde Massacre was the multiple murder of members of the Vizconde family; Estrellita, Carmela and Anna Marie Jennifer, on June 30, 1991 at their house in BF Homes, Parañaque City, in the Philippines. Carmela Vizconde was gang raped before she was murdered on their own home. Mr. Lauro Vizconde, the father, was in the United States back then when the murders took place. The Vizconde Murder case became one of the most sensational case in the country mostly because the accused were children of rich and influential families, including Hubert Webb, the son of former PBA basketball player and Senator Freddie Webb. The case remained unsolved for almost four years until the witness Jessica Alfaro testified that she knew the suspects and was at the Vizconde house when the crime was committed.

Jessica Alfaro submitted an affidavit of her accounts and attested that she was a former drug addict. It was also evident in several footage of the trial that Alfaro identified all the defendants by their names.

Among other critical pieces of evidence that was not admitted by Judge Amelita Tolentino, was the suspicious "note verbale" from the United States Embassy claiming that Hubert Webb was in the United States at the time of the massacre (Please view the video). Judge Tolentino would accept this evidence only if then Secretary of State Madeleine Albright would testify as to validate the note verbale's contents. But Judge Tolentino did not.

Furthermore, Judge Tolentino also denied Webb's request to subject semen samples to DNA testing on the belief that the Philippines has no capabilities and facilities to extract such physical evidence.

During that period, three (3) movies pop-up related to the Vizconde Massacre in which generates a lot of speculation and sensationalized the story further. In addition the different Media theory, boils the accused more to the case.

On January 6, 2000, the presiding judge in the case rendered her decision, sentencing Hubert Webb, Peter Estrada, Hospicio Fernandez, Michael Gatchalian, Antonio Lejano II and Miguel Rodriguez to life imprisonment. The presiding dismissed a lot of evidences in which it should have proved that Hubert Webb was 6000 miles from the incident.

Parañaque RTC and NBI Pointing Fingers on Each Other, Major... Major... Booh! booh!

According to news last April 2010, the Philippine Supreme court approved DNA testing to be performed on the semen specimen obtained during autopsy from the victims. This has resulted in the revelation by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) that they no longer had the specimens as these were remanded to the Parañaque courts. The NBI informed the Court on April 27, 2010 that the semen specimen/vaginal smears and all original documents including autopsy and laboratory reports, and photographs are no longer in the custody of the NBI as these were submitted as evidence to the Parañaque City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 274.

Hubert Webb's Family Filed Motion for Acquittal (Justice for Hubert Webb)

Last October 28, 2010, Hubert Webb's Family filed an urgent motion for acquittal because NBI loosing a majory physical, that would have proved Hubert Webb's innocent. “We are going to ask the Supreme Court to finally decide on that case but considering our position that because of the denial of due process, resulting from the state losing the evidence, it should result to the acquittal of Mr. Hubert Webb,” according to Atty. Demi Custodio as noted in an interview from a TV network.

Due Process Denied

I understand what happened to Mr. Vizconde's Family was devastating. But after doing some research and seeing Che Che Lazaro's documentary I was bit surprised. Before, I view Hubert Webb as a drug addict, killer and should be sentence to jail even though I don't know who he really is. Based on my research a lot of evidences were disregarded in which will actually proves the Hubert Webb is INNOCENT! I guess if there's no media and movies that sensationalized the case I would look at it differently. I believe in "due process", a person is not guilty until proven guilty.

But I think Mr. Lauro Vizconde should not be happy about this. Not because Hubert will be acquitted, but because the real killer is still on the loose. Well.... this is my own opinion, this is what I've seen on the other side of the story of Hubert Webb. This is me who's talking, tell me what you thinks guys?

My Dandruff Problem

Last week, I was invited by a friend to join "The Clear Swap Challenge at Market! Market! Activity Center". At first, I was having second thoughts because I'm living in Dasmarinas City, Cavite and it will take 2 - 3 hrs to reach Market! Market! Bonifacio, Global City. Since I've been having problem with my itchy scalp and I wanted to end it once and for all, I gave it a try. She told me to bring an empty bottle of my old shampoo so that I can avail the freebies in the event. Then she told me to visit the clear website for the mechanics and for more details.

Since I only have one sachet of my old shampoo, I transferred the remaining sachet I have to an empty bottle so that I can make it to the 6 sachet requirements.I've been having problem with flakes and itchy scalp that's why I'm willing to get rid of my old anti-dandruff shampoo, just to resolve this itchy problem.

The Travel to The Clear Swap Challenge - Market! Market!

October 30, 2010, I went to Market! Market! to join the Clear Swap Challenge. I left Dasmarinas City, Cavite.at around 10:30 AM in the morning to be able to arrived on or before 1PM. When I reached Ayala Mrt Station, I took the The Fort Bus across the shell station in Ayala,which dropped me off at the Market! Market! Parking Area. I arrived 5 minutes before one o'clock and the registration was just getting started.

I was warmly welcomed by Ms. Booboo Atayde (and the gang), who showed me around and presented me the activity booths. These cool guys were very accommodating so if you gonna be joining the next event, go look for them.

The Scalp Pod and the Interactive Games.

Before I went to the Scalp Pod, Ms. Boo Boo line up for me so that I can see the Game booth which showcases a sensor activated LCD screen for their two hightech games. The Game Booth offers two (2) fun activities which is Dandruff Buster and Dandruff Rain. Dandruff Buster also has an online version in which you can play with it under facebook application.

On my turn to the Scalp Pod, the Dermatologist let me answers some question in the laptop provided to help in evaluation. Then diagnose my hair using the "Scalp Scanner". The scalp scanner is an electronic imaging device that is attached to a computer to evaluate and diagnose your hair and scalp.

According to Clear Scalp Consultant, we should know the right dandruff shampoo before using it, because wrong type of dandruff shampoo may lead to scalp damages or even hair losses.

Then after the evaluation and diagnosis, the computer recommended Clear Xtreme for my type of hair. It cuts grease & removes build up for long-lasting clean feel. Then before I redeemed my Clear, I asked the Dermatologist, "What is the proper way to apply shampoo?" She discussed the step by step procedure below:

Proper way to wash your hair

First, Soak your hair. She said that it's important that the hair is damped thoroughly and evenly.

Second, Massage your scalp. Massaging your hair stimulate blood-flow to the scalp encouraging healthy hair and scalp.

Then, shampoo your hair using the right type of shampoo for your hair type. Hair usually only needs one application of shampoo. More than this can lead to static or fly-away results and leave the hair unprotected from pollution and the environment. H2 Barangay Election Results: Dasmariñas City - Cavite

Looking for my Voting Precinct

This is my third time I was able to exercised my rights in selecting leaders for my community in Dasmariñas City - Cavite. The last one was the National Election. Looking for my precinct was a bit easier than the earlier elections. For Baragay H2, we have 28 precincts assigned for our barangay. I was lucky enough after checking out some few precincts I was able locate our designated voting station right. At the same time, I was able to register right away with out the long lines compared last years. With just few minutes I was able to vote my officials.

The Barangay Candidates

There's no new player for the Barangay Chairman candidates. It was still a competition between the Brgy. Chairman Podaca's Ticket and the aspiring Ambito's Ticket. I have no trouble selecting my Brgy. Chairman, because I'll be choosing only between the two candidates. For Kagawad, out of 20 listed candidates I have to choose (7) seven. I have my list before hand, that's why I just copied it to the ballot.

Last October 14, 2010, I was invited by Ms. Janette Toral (Digital Filipino) to join her team in Netsuite's Business One Press Conference. The CEO of NetSuite, Inc. Mr. Zach Nelson revisited Philippines for his "Business Cloud Tour" in Manila which started last October 6 to 14, 2010. NetSuite is one of the world's largest provider of Financial and ERP Solutions and the first Cloud Computing solution provider in the Philippines.

Traveling from Dasmariñas City to The Peninsula Hotel - Manila

I'm very fortunate to be invited because I was able to visit one of the finest 5 star hotel in the country, The Peninsula Hotel - Manila. I left Dasmariñas Cavite at around 8 AM, to give me an (1) hour leadtime to the scheduled Press Conference Call Time 11AM. I have no trouble commuting, riding a Jasper Bus from Dasmariñas City; that's why I arrived Ayala MRT Station early as 10AM.

At the back of the Ayala Shell Station, I took a jeepney to reach The Peninsula Manila along Ayala Avenue corner Makati Avenue. Since the jeepney only stops and unload passenger on a specific unloading, station I was drop off near Herrera st. Jeepney Unloading Station it was several blocks away from Manila Peninsula. It was a long walk from Herrera St. to Makati Avenue. I said, I should have walk from Edsa to Makati Avenue if I have knew that there's not Jeepney Stop near Makati Avenue. Well let's charge it to experience.

I went in at the Makati Ave. entrance of the hotel in which I was almost lost looking for the Main Lobby. The Main Lobby of the Hotel was very amazing. It has alot of artistic figurines and painting. Although it my third time in the Hotel I'm still star struck by the beautiful interior design and architecture of this hotel. What exciting about an event like this is aside from the good food and desserts, is when you meet new exciting people. How did I got my Vibrams?

My Pair of Vibram Five Fingers

Last September 22, 2010, I was invited to Vibrams Five Fingers or also know as VFF media lunch. The VFF media launch was held at Paolo's Boot Camp, The Metropolitan Club, Rockwell, Makati in the Philippines. I was fortunate enough to test run a Size 43 Red Black Sprint Vibrams Five Finger. There were lot of prominent atheletes presents and I was able meet Madz a.k.a Minnie Runner. She's with a co-league in her work and a fellow blogger Alfredo Vedarozaga aka Running Atom.

VFF Media “Lunch”

A weeks ago before the VFF Media Lunch, A friendly person named Kim, invited me through email about the VFF Media Lunch. Ok I want to emphasized he's a he, at first I thought he's a she, that's why I address him as Ms. Kim on my reply, but he did not correct me.. Anyways, he told me if I'll send him my address and contact info so that he will send me an invitation for the Vibrams Five Finger Media Launch. I left Dasmarinas City, at around 7:00AM so that I can arrive on time even I will be caught in the traffic. The invitation said the event will start at 10am, since there were no traffic along the way I arrived as early as 9:30 AM. At that time, they were still preparing the registration and I think I'm one of the early bird and first to fit and try out one of the VFF in that event.

A few minutes before the event start, I notice Madz (Minnie Runner) at my back. I approached her but didn't greet her right away so that I would know if she can recognized personally. She only noticed me when I approached her once again and told her “Hi Madz, Can I take you picture?” Then she exclaim, “Hey, Jhong!” I thought she wouldn't recognized me.

After a small chat, one person approach us and introduced himself as “Juan” and he requested if we could take pictures with us in front the VFF backdraft. We have no idea who's the guy but we replied, “Sure!”. Then afterwards, he gave his calling card indicating his name “JUAN CARLOS R. ABAD” under it is “BIG TOE”. We only new that he's the President of barefootwear, inc. when he was introduced by the Lady MC during the event. The event finished at around 1PM, after some product introductions and experience sharing of prominent sport celebrities the country.

Trying Out My Red Hot Vibrams

Right after the event, I tried wearing my new Red Black Sprint VFF at the office to try how it fits. At first it was a little odd because it's my first time to wear something in between my toes. I tried to walk it out and it really feels that your really walking on bare feet. A lot of my office mates notice it and even inside the elevator it's been a head turner.

An Early Christmas Gift - Asus Eee PC

Last two weeks ago, I've received a gift came from a friend in the states that I have known only from chating online. At first, I thought he was only kidding that he'll send me a netbook so that I can work anytime and anywhere I go. It's because one time I mention I'm doing som e online work and blogging on my spare time. He said it's a gift in return for the help I extended to his Filipina friend Ricca. I never expected extending such help, I would have a netbook on my lap, he gave me an Asus Eee PC. I just assisted her friend with some IT tips, a little installation and fix something with her laptop .

I'm sharing this to my readers so that I can share the lesson I've learned from this. If you help someone without expecting in return you'll be rewarded in least expected. It may not be right away or may be not coming from the same person,but the Lord will return it to you or may be more that you expected. With that I live you with a verse from the scripture:

How did the Election in Dasmariñas, Cavite Turned Out?

I guess like other voters from other precinct nationwide, they have the same experienced like what we had. Long-lines, short tempered voters, and skin burning temperature was the common scenario in most of precincts here in Dasmariñas, Cavite.

Noticeable Complaints/ Common Problems :

1. Unorganized Voter's-Lines

2. There's no Standard Procedure on how Voters will vote using the automated process.(Some precinct used tickets and some did not. Time and Motion studies should have been prepared ahead of time.)

3. There's no procedure on how the disabled, pregnant or senior citizen will vote.

4. Some of candidates/supporters were still distributing sample ballots and campaign paraphernalia during the voting period.

Despite of these noticeable problems during the voting process, I think this is just birth pain of having this Automated Elections. It's not yet perfect but it can be improved. In fact, we're the first in Southeast Asian countries to automate a nationwide election process. I guess, we just need to give the Automated Election a chance to improve and grow. BTW, it did improve the speed of the process of counting. Aside from that I'm still very thankful that the 2010 Election in Dasmariñas Cavite ended peacefully.

I still have one question at the back of my mind. Is this automated election, CREDIBLE? ...hmmm. I think it's a different ballgame for every body. The cheaters will have to find a new game plan for the automated election. Unless there's an inside job. Anyway, what do you think?

One of My Memorable Birthdays in Dasmariñas City - Cavite

The Blessings

Yes it was my birthday last May 3, in case you haven't know yet. I have no cakes nor even a party to celebrate it but I was a memorable one me. A week before my birthday I've already receive a birthday gift from my wife. She was able to buy me a new bag in replacement of my old Marithe Francois Girbaud Bag.

We were able to buy and afford it because she was able to get her backpay allowance from her maternity leave. After the bag, another blessing came prior to my birthday, I was able to close another project with CM Builder's Inc. courtesy of Ms. Michelle Lachica which referred by another client from Party Tricks n Treats. It's a web development job and I was very happy I've met the very nice couple behind CM Builders, Inc. That's why I was able to celebrate my birthday with my family in a resort within the Dasmariñas City.

We didn't planned it but my kids really wanted it badly that's why two days before my birthday my wife and I scouted for a resort nearest to us and with in our budget. My birthday was on a Monday that's why we celebrated it and move it on a Sunday. We were able to find a resort near to us and reserved a Family Room for only P 1,500.00 for a 12 hr stay in Swiss Resort along Aguinaldo Highway in Dasmariñas City, Cavite. It was a good find indeed, aside from it's clean and relaxing, they didn't charge us for an over head, because I was able to bring along my my mother-in-law and 4 more relatives in this family outing con birthday celebration. I have taken some photo for me to share:

We all went home at around 6:00 pm were all my kids were so tired to get-off the bed We're all tired and but enjoyed the family outing and it was really a memorable birthday celebration for me. I thank the Lord for the blessing and my wife for having this memorable birthday treats. I love you, Mom.

"Salubong" in Dasmariñas City - Cavite

The "Salubong"

As early as 3:30 AM in the morning, I thought my wife woke me up to attend the 4AM mass. I have no idea that it was about the "Salubong" because I thought it's just a regular early morning mass. It's my first time to attend the "Salubong" celebration in my entire religious life. I've noticed that when we've reached the church the image of the Blessed Mary was about to be paraded to the street of our parish area. I have no idea about the route of the parade and what will be happening at the end.

The procession start at our Mary of Perpetual Help Parish Church in "Dasmariñas Bagung Bayan -1" where the image of the Blessed Virgin Mary started of the parading ceremony. At first there were only few to a hundred devotees join the procession.

It was still dark when we reach the next nearest barangay.

After a kilometer walk from Brgy. San Isidro Labrador, we have reach Brgy. Sto. Niño 2.

Almost a thousand of devotees join the procession.

We finally arrive at Brgy. Sto. Cristo where the venue where the image of the Blessed Virgin Mary & the Risen Jesus Christ meet.

The crowd were so thick I was not able to get close to the scene.

The sun was already showing up, when the two images return back to the parish church, and the Easter Mass commenced.

The procession and the ceremony was really amazing, I was really fortunate I was able to share this to you. My wife and I went home at around 7:30AM after the Easter Mass and we both wish we will be able to attend next year celebration. That's it, I hope you've enjoyed your Easter the same way that I have. Happy Birthday to my VIP - Very Important Princess - Summer!

It's a very important day for the family today, because it Summer's 2nd Birthday. Despite of a very short budget, my wife and I agreed just to treat Summer to the mall and take the whole family for a lunch out and have them play on kiddie rides and kiddie inflatables playground.

We also have decided to take our family photo in a nearby studio located in the mall to make it memorable and exciting. To sum-up everything we only spent less than P1,000.00 ($22.00) for the whole party treats, but we felt that Summer - my VIP (Very Important Princess) really enjoyed it!

Anaya Norma Patrice Medina - My Little Princess

You might be wondering where in the world I got the name "Anaya Norma Patrice"? I know it's a long name and I hope my daughter forgive me when she grow up.... Lols! Ok, "Anaya" is a Hebrew Name which means "God's Will". My wife research it when a client in our internet shop asking for baby's name when she was pregnant. At first we intend to use "Anaiah" but worrying she might have trouble writing it down. So we stick to the original "Anaya" name.

Norma is my mother's name. I remembered my mother when the day I was thinking for a girls' name. I used Norma as her second part of her name to honor my late mother who died when I was at 7 years old. Although I can't remember her face because I lost her at my young age, I want to remember her name by passing it to my youngest daughter.

Well the last part was "Patrice", it came from my mother-in-law Patricia. We changed it to "Patrice" to make it sounds modern. "Anaya Norma Patricia" sounds a lil' retro that's why we came up with "Anaya Norma Patrice I. Medina" for the National Statistic Office records.

Anaya was born last January 6, 2010 at around 8:02pm at Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital in Manila. I was very thankful that she was delivered (CS) healthy at 9.4lbs.
We spent 5 days in the hospital because she was observed in Nursery Intensive Care Unit (NICU). I was worried at first but our doctor, Dr. Ilim explained that it is the standard procedure of the hospital to observed babies over 9lbs for 2 days in the intensive care unit. We went home in the evening of January 10, 2010 exhausted but happy & excited because we have a new member in the family. Thank you Lord for giving me "Anaya"...

I know it's been more than a month from my previous post. I've been very busy with a lot of things specially with my fulltime job. As we all know my full time job is my bread and butter. It's what gives Thea and Summer milk to drink and my family food on top of the table.

Aside from that, I spend some quality time with my family last December 2009 and visited some relatives during the Holiday Seasons. Anyways, for me there's a lot of things to be thankful with 2009 let me start with:

My Family

I'm very thankful for my wife, Yeye, who's always there to inspire me. I love you sweetie!

I'm very thankful for my children Gelo, Thea, Summer, and Anaya. For I was able to celebrate their birthdays and able to enjoyed bonding with them though out the year of 2009. I'm so blessed for I have these healthy little sweet children who keeps me going and smiling on my dull moments.

I'm very happy I was able to see my brothers and sisters, nephew and niece, in-laws and my other relatives. I hope to see them again. I'll gonna miss you Sis. Miriam.

My Friends

I'm very grateful for knowing these new friends who's always spamming my blogs (I wish...), Lols! Zorlone, Jena Isles, Madz, Elmot, Roy, Jan, Ditesco, Holly, Gemma, Aswani, Beyonce (Oops) Heather! Novs, and the rest of the gang of P50. These are cool bloggers in the blogosphere.

I'm very grateful I was able to re-open my internet cafe. I'm very happy that I still have my clients and business 'til the end the year 2009. I'm also very happy and very grateful that I still have my fulltime job for the bonuses and 13th Month Pay. Hahahaha!

Survival Tips on Your Toddler's Field Trip

Last November 28, 2009, Thea and I had a bonding moment at her school's educational field trips on several sites in Metro Manila. Thea is my four (4) year old daughter, studying at Dasmariñas-2 Central School as Kindergarten here in Dasmariñas City, Cavite. Just wanna share my experiences for those Dad who's coming with their Toddlers Field Trip for the first time and for those Wanna be Dads. ;P

The Preparations

First things first, what to prepare for the trip... hmmm. My wife take cares all of that and I just listed it below:

1. Drinks, Breakfast, Lunch and Snacks
- 2 Bottle of Ice Tea
- Tuna Sandwich Breakfast
- Fried Chicken and Rice
- Some pack of chips
2. Extra Shirts, Caps, Extra Underware, Fan and Umbrella.
3. Toiletries - Baby wipes, Isoprophyl Alcohol & Soap, Hair comb (Which I forgot)
4. Cellphone
5. Camera
8. Extra Money (shsss...don't tell my wife that I brought some extra money.)

The Field Trip

The call time was 5am in the morning. I woke Thea at around 4am, took a bath, check the food (of course) and things I needed to bring. I have no trouble waking up Thea because she was so excited for the trip. We arrived at exactly 5am and only two (2) of her classmate were the first to arrived. So we waited for 30mins before we're able to board the bus. The bus left 6:30am, out of 12 buses we were the first to leave.

We have visited (4) four site which took us 14 hours. Below is the sites:

The Basilica of Barasoain (also known as Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish) in Malolos Bulacan was our first detination. We arrived at around 8:30 am as scheduled. The Malolos Congress is in accordance with the decrees of June 18 and 23, 1898, Aguinaldo convoked the Revolutionary Congress at Barasoain, Malolos. This is the Basilica that can be found at the back of our P10 ten peso bill.

Our second destination was the Nature's Spring Purified Water Plant or the Philippine Spring Water Resources, Inc. Plant in which located at Sta. Rita, Guiguinto, Bulacan. Camera's are not allowed inside but the demonstrate to us the water purification process. Boring isn't? Thea didn't enjoy this part of the trip either. But before we went back to the bus we able to refill our bottled water and taste there flavored water.

The third part of the field trip was in a ballet theater named "Aliw Theater" which just beside from our last destination. Picture taking during the presentation were not allowed but this was the best part of the trip for Thea and she enjoyed it very well. "Tatlong kwento ni Lola Basyang" (Three story by Grandma Basyang) was the title of the presentation. It dramatized thru ballet three story in which Thea really enjoyed. The story was about romance , adventure and comedy pack in one. The three (3) story was:

Ang Kapatid ng Tatlong Maria (Choreographed by Lisa Macuja-Elizalde, Music by Joey Ayala)

Aliw Theater, Star City, CCP Complex

Our last stop was Star City Amusement Park, it's just beside the "Aliw Theater" where watch the Ballet presentation. Thea enjoyed the rides to the max up to the last minute of our schedule. We boarded back to our bus and left at around 7:00 pm. We arrived back home almost before 9pm so excited telling her first time outdoor adventure to her mom.

Things to take note, before traveling.

1. Take note of the Bus Number or Plate of the Bus.
2. Make sure that you and your toddler have unloaded (pee) before you leave.
3. Count the bags you have and make sure it's properly labeled.
4. Make sure that you have an identification card on your toddler or insert a calling card on her packet if ever you lost each other in crowded areas.

Penne Rigatti Creamy Spaghetti Sauce

Last November 5, 2009 I cooked for my wife on her 33rd birthday party at her office. Since then, a lot of her office mates has been requesting for the recipe. So I'm revealing the secret now not so secret recipe. Lols! Below is the ingredients.

Ingredients

1000 ml. Spaghetti Sauce (Italian flavor)
1 pack Penne (800g) San Remo
1 bx. Melted Cheese (Grated)
5 pcs. Onion (chopped)
1 bar Butter or Margarine (Garlic Flavor)
1 gloves Garlic (dice)
¼ kg Carrots (Grind)
1 can Mushroom (sliced)
½ kg Hotdog
¼ kg Ham (sliced)
½ kg. Ground Beef
2 pcs. Knorr Beef Cubes
1 Can Nestle Cream
Salt and Pepper for Taste

Cooking Instruction

Spaghetti Noodles :
Boil water w/ 1tsp salt & 1tbls cooking oil, then add the spaghetti noodles, wait until cooked (about 8 to 10mins).

Sauté the ground beef w/ melted butter or margarine until brown, then add the dice garlic , onion, sliced hotdog, ham and the mushroom until cooked.
Then add the spaghetti sauce, grated carrots, salt, pepper, beef cubes wait until boils.

Simmer (5 mins.) while mixing w/ Nestle All Purpose Cream.

Serve with grated cheese.

Yes, its now safe to say that we are now residing at the City of Dasmariñas, Cavite. I was informed by my source that the YES vote casted a large margin over the NO vote yesterday plebiscite for Dasmariñas Cityhood. YES! Dasmariñas Cavite, is now DASMARIÑAS CITY!

Now, a lot of Dasmarileños hope that the future funds that will be added will be use properly so that it will provide development to all corners of the Dasmariñas City and brings brighter future for my children. The people of Dasmariñas have spoken, it's up to the local official to make Dasmariñas City a safer, healthier and prosperous place to leave in.

Below is my round by round summary of the Firepower fight between the Philippine Champion Manny "PACMAN" Paquiao versus Miguel Cotto. I'm trying to blog this as I watch the fight round by round, so bare with me with typos and grammar.

Introduction

The crowd was silenced when the Philippine National Anthem was sung by our very own La Diva. Then the silence was broken when Manny Paquiao entered the arena, followed by Miguel Cotto. Pacquiao was the first fighter into the ring. Wearing red trunks littered with logos he went staright to his corner and knelt in prayer. Before the start of the round I've just saw Chavit Singson at the Paquiao's corner.Hmmm, I sense Politics!

Round One

When the bell rang the crowd roars. Cotto startled Pacquiao with a first punch but didn't hurt our hero. The round ended with exchanged of blow and Cotto wins the round 10-9

Round Two

Cotto continues pounding body shots chopping down Pacquiao's body. But Manny Pacquiao at the halfway through the round he finds an opening and delivers a combination and a lot of left & right jab in which destabilized Cotto and couldn't find a solution to counters Paquiao's attacks. Then Pacquiao releases three-punches combination with about 15 seconds left. Pacquiao stares at Cotto at the end of the round and Pacquiao wins the round, 10-9.

Round Three

The action started by Cotto throws a left that Pacquiao sidesteps with jabs and left blow. At the middle of the round the referee Kenny Bayless calls a knockdown on Cotto from a left and right combination from Manny Paquiao. Pacquiao's speed, which surprised so many other fighters, appears to be too much for Puertorican fighter. Before the end of the round Cotto manages to sneak an upper-cut in which upsets Paquiao. Pacquiao still wins the round 10-8.

Round Four

Cotto started early with jabs rattling our Pinoy Champion on 2:20 minutes left. Pacquiao has been pinned twice on the rope punishing him with body shots and several uppercuts. When I thought that Cotto gains the advantage with this round, Pacquiao escapes to the center of the ring, Cotto goes down again with 10 seconds remaining. Manny manage to hit Cotto with a hard left to the chin that causes him to go down. Cotto went to his corner bleeding with one eye. Pacquiao still owns Cotto at 10-8 score.

Round Five

Sorry guys I've missed this round I need to go to the rest room but Pacquiao still takes this round with 10-9 score. LOLS! Bad timing huh!

Round Six

Pacquiao still going for the head consistently, sniping Cotto with a left and right combination. At this round Cotto's face is showing the damage, looking red and perhaps a bit swollen. Pacquiao twice pinned Cotto on the ropes in the final 15 seconds and almost gets him down for a third time. Pacquiao still scores from the judges with 10-9 card.

Round Seven

At this round, Cotto still couldn't find a solution to the speed of Paquiao. Paquiao still punished Cotto with a one-to-three combination. Even though Cotto manages to sneak punches at the end of the round, the round again ends with Pacquiao winning with 10-9 score.

Round Eight

Pacquiao has been slicing the defense of Cotto's defenses and he has no where to go but to move around the ring by back pedaling. At the 20 seconds of the round Cotto continues to fight backward and the round ends with him backed into his corner, saved from further damage by the bell. Cotto's face is swollen and I'm starting to conclude the fight with Pacquiao wins the round, 10-9.

Round Nine

Another punishing round for Cotto. Pacquiao still excutes his offensive tactics and still Cotto back paddles around the ring. Pacquiao gets off a good three-punch combination and traps Cotto against the ropes three times. Cotto has been bleeding heavily from his nose and his right eye almost shut as he goes to his corner. Pacquiao wins the round 10-9 again.

Round Ten

Cotto white trunks are now stained with blood and both eyes are nearly swollen closed. The two fighter is now wearing red trunks? Are they allowing it now? Just kidding! Cotto continues to backpedal and Pacquiao continues to chase him. Near the end of the round Paquiao signals Cotto saying "Let's get it on." because Cotto has been running thru out the round. Pacquiao wins the round 10-9.

Round Eleven

Cotto can't stand the punishment anymore as he continue to back pedal thru out the round. Cotto has been a dancing punching bag for Manny Paquiao as the cut of Cotto's left eye has been bleeding thru his trunks. At this round I feel Cotto's only wanted to survive. Pacquiao wins the round, 10-8.

Final Round

Early in the round our local tv commentator already announced that Manny Paquiao has claimed his 7th world title, because Cotto's just keep on running around the ring and with the scores presented only a knock down can turn around the fight. Spooky All Saint's Day

Last November 1, coming from my father-in-law's grave we have a very unforgettable spooky experienced. While on our way home, Thea' saw the convenience store near the Jeepney Terminal. She ask me if we could drop by the store for a chocolate sundae before we went home. My pregnant wife agreed because she's also been craving for the chocolate sundae since we left the cemetery.

The side walk was a little dark. Streetlight were shaded by trees. When we're at approximately 20 meter away from the convenience store, a woman in black veil pop-up in front of us. She scream out loud in front of my pregnant wife frightening my children too. At first my wife thought it was a friend playing a practical joke, but when the woman remove her veil and scream frighteningly again, my wife can't help it but scream too. When I was about to pull my family behind me the woman shouted out "You Stop Shout! Stop Shout! Waaaaaah.", that time I realized and noticed the woman is a bit out of order(mad). The woman walk away murmuring "you shout stop". Thea was a little bit in tears and my wife almost went to labor in this incident. I calm them a bit then we went home right away.

It's really a spooky experience for my family this all saint's day. Good thing my wife didn't went to labor that night. So how did your All Saint's Day turned out? Do you have any spooky experience too?

It had been six years since he was rescued - an Angel found and saved him from drowning in a flood.

"Come here boy! Time to dry your dirty fur," called Ezekiel, who got a fresh towel from the bathroom. ReyJr. then came up to Ezekiel, rolled on the floor belly up and looked at him with playfully loyal and loving puppy dog eyes.

Pangasinan Provincial Officials are requesting for Help to National Gov't

Pangasinan is 90% flooded and parts of Baguio City is underwater. According to News the town of Aparri in Cagayan Valley is likewise inundated. Going to North Luzon Motorist are advised to postponed their trip view a lot of National Road are impassable and dangerous.

The local government of Pangasinan is requesting for help to evacuate people to safe areas. There requesting for rubber boat, life raft and helicopter for the evacuation to higher areas.

The affected areas are Aguilar, Basista, Urbiztondo, Sta. Barbara, Dagupan City, Manaoag, Mangaldan, San Fabian, San Jacinto, Alcala, Bautista, Binaloan, Laoac, Pozorrubio, Sison, Urdaneta City, Villasis, Asingan, Bulangao, Natividad, Rosales, San Manuel, San Nicolas, San Quintin, Sta. Maria, Tayug Bayambang, Calasiao, Mapandana and Umingan.

Among the most affected areas are Natividad, Tayug, Asingan and Mangaldan with all the villages there flooded.

Goodbye Ondoy, Hello Typhoon PEPENG! Hmmp... Kainis!!!

"As of 5:00 p.m, 30 September 2009 Today, (Philippine Time) a Typhoon at the east of Northern Mindanao has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and was named 'PEPENG'." As forcasted by PAGASA.

Yes, another storm coming, I know a lot of families in Luzon have not yet recovered from the trauma of the Typoon Ondoy. Then here comes Typhoon PEPENG, a lot of us was not expecting Typhoon Ondoy will be this traumatic. We were caught off-guard even for those people where flooding is a normal scenery in their cities (Malabon, Marikina, Pasay & Pasig). I guess we have to be prepared this time. We should expect the unexpected.

So here are some tips and preparations in case of unexpected emergency like this occurs:

1.) Prepare Food Supplies suitable for 2-3 days.

We should have at least have Can Goods for us to consumed if this will happen again.

2.) Plan your escape route in case of Flood.

Don't Panic - make preparations where you can store food and a place you can safely stay.

3.) Prepare a disaster supply kit.

What is a disaster supply kit? - First Aid Kits, Spare Clothes, Flash Lights, Candle and etc. packed in one bag.

4.) Secure valuable things such as important documents, cellphones, jewelries and etc.

Secure your valuables specially documents such as Passport, Birth Certificates, Licenses, Cellphone, Money and Jewelries (For Pawn?) and etc.

5.) Note down important contact numbers.

A lot of newly grad employees quit their first job because of the trauma at the workplace.Because they thought that after graduation it’s the end of their suffering, but its not.The battle is just getting started. The real world is not a nirvana, where you can just play around. The real work place is not only filled with physical distress, but also full of emotional stress. If you really want to excel in your field you need to be tough and you need to have patience. As my wife's boss would say, “Don’t believe that life is fair, it will always be unfair.” Your first job can be full of frustrations but don’t quit, try to earn the respect of your superior. A lot of newly grad employees who quit on their first job end up without a career. The first six months of an employee is very vital to have a fulfilling career. I believe its not working hard that will makes you successful, but it’s your character that will get you on top of the corporate ladder.

Meantime, I would like to dedicate this poem to my niece, Kate. Be strong and God bless.

I've just received an email from a friend which contains a link that points to a site that petitions to oust Mr. Willie Revillame. If you could remember Willie has been into several issues with people like with the controversial "Pera o Bayong Scam" and Act of Lasciviousness with some actresses. But this time he shows and reacted in such way was downright arrogant and disrespectful to the late President Corazon Aquino during his show.

Here's a part of the petitions:

"I am an avid viewer of ABS CBN and I am very well up-to-date regarding their shows. Without any doubt, I am a Kapamilya. However, last August 03, 2009, an incident happened when Wowowee Host Willie Revillame blurted out comments when a video of Pres. Cory's cortege appeared on the screen.

While a contestant was dancing for the talent portion, a snippet of Pres. Cory Aquino's cortege was shown on the screen. But Willie did not cut short the dancing portion. Instead, he let the contestant finish her routine. After that, he blurted out comments regarding the video of Pre. Cory's cortege. He said:

Last March 24, 2008, Former President Corazon Aquino was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer. At the age of 75, she's currently battling the said disease at Makati Medical Center. Family and Friends are campaigning Tie a Yellow Ribbon Prayer Campaign to lessen her suffering and for her immediate recovery.

The said campaign was initiated by her friend Marge Juico thru text campaigns passing on the request.

"Rekindle the flame of democracy that Cory began. Believe that the Filipino is worth dying for. Tie a yellow ribbon today: Cory hindi ka nag-iisa (Cory you are not alone)!" the text message from Juico read.

It’s 4th of July 2009 and it’s Thea’s 4th Birthday. Its been a week that I have been wondering on how to celebrate Thea’s birthday. I really wanted to give her something that she could really appreciate. But as I have said from my previous post... we ‘re currently on financial crisis since the problem with the renovation occurs. My wife originally planned treating them into the mall and buys her favorite toy. Unfortunately, we only come out with a budget of P 600.00, in which I have already used for our allowance, in which I borrowed from Thea’s piggy bank a week ago. “Don’t get angry with me guys! As I have said we’re on crisis sometimes it leave us no choice.” But I did managed to return the amount and I have decided to celebrate her birthday at home.

It’s really hard to budget something, when there is nothing to budget… LOL! But we have did our best to celebrate her birthday at home for only less than P 600.00. I bought this Triple Delight Round Cake from Goldilocks, which only cost me P 295.00 with free personalized caption and free candle. At the same time, I was able to buy her a Kitchen Set Toy as a gift, which only cost me less than P 200.00 and also bought some beverages from the groceries to complete the small party celebration at home.

When Thea saw her cake, she surprisingly said “Wow”. I didn’t expect that she would have the same appreciation when we treat her on her last Kiddie Birthday Party. She said, “Papa, akin ‘to?” (“Dad, Is this mine?”)… And amazingly said again “WOW! Papa” and then gave me hug. My heart almost jump out when Thea’s appreciated her cake and said to me “Samamat Papa!” which I hug her back tightly out of delight. You might be wondering what is “Samamat”? LOL! She means “Salamat or Thank you”... Forgive her... she still having trouble with her pronunciations. But when I heard that word it made feel the coolest Dad on earth! Ha!

You’re the 1, Goldilocks, because even on crisis you’re maasahan. Thank you Goldilocks, “Samamat Goldilocks!” :)

Are you like me, eating while blogging? I spend an average of 5 to 7hrs a week just to do my entrecard dropping and blog hopping. I post 1 to 2 blogs a week and make sure to comment on my friends blogs too. I have an 8hr full time job and I trying to manage to post a blog while eating during my (1)hr lunch break. In the blogosphere... I'm still a newbie, and I'm still trying to manage my offline job and my own blog at the same time. I'm very thankful that aside from my children, I have friends like Jenna Isle, Zorlone, Madz, and Julie that inspires me to update my post. Can you help me guys? How much time do you spend in blogging? I'll appreciate the time you'll spend on this post.

Michael Jackson, died June 25, 2009

According to report on the morning of June 25, 2009 2:26 pm (June 26 2:27 am- Philippine Time), Michael Jackson was pronounced dead at UCLA Medical Center. The King of Pop collapsed at a rented home in Holmby Hills in Los Angeles, California, USA. Their local fire department paramedics responded to a 911 call at 12:21pm Pacific Time and arrived 12:30 pm. Michael was reportedly not breathing as he fell into a coma and died shortly after being rushed to the hospital. The cause of death is reported to be cardiac arrest and was pronounce dead after 2 hrs of reviving his body.

If you could remember in 1984, The King of Pop released the single Thriller from what is still considered the most popular album of all time with 109 million copies sold worldwide and 10 top 10 singles. Michael Jackson has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, once as a solo artist and a second time as member of The Jackson 5. He has won 13 Grammys, created 13 number one singles more than any other artist, sold 750 million albums worldwide.

Michael Jackson will always be an unforgettable mark in the World of Music History.

Just wanna share one of my painting in which I've used as my blog header. This was one of my entry in the on-the-spot painting contest from my previous company last February 2007. The contest was held at the 18th Hole at the Palmer Course of the Orchard Golf and Country Club. Although this entry did not won any place but it was one my favorite. The contest theme was about "Save Mother Earth" and we need to interpret it using water color.

I have no formal training in painting but the following year, my second entry won the second prize. I hope I would be able to post it here soon; because it still on display at the Orchard - Employees Hall.

I'm a Proud DAD again!

I missed the blogosphere for almost a month now and there's a lot of things that didn't turned out what I expected. One is ... the construction or renovation was short of funds, until now the house has no roof slab. That's why the Qlick Internet Cafe is still close. And two is... I was surprised (I guess it's proper to say surprised, rather than unexpected) when my wife told that she was pregnant. When I've heard what she told me, I felt mixture of fear and happiness. I'm very happy because I'll be a Dad again and fear because she's been taking contraceptive pills for almost a month. That's why I'm very worried about the baby.

The following day we went to see her OB Doctor for consultation. Her Doctor told us that although there were no recorded proof for complication or side effects about contraceptive pills, she's not giving her 100% that the baby will be all right. There are some cases of complication for ectopic pregnancy that's why she refer us for a trans-vaginal ultrasound to see if the egg is in proper place. So we went for a TV ultrasound that same day and it was a relief when the Ultrasound Doctor told us "Congratulations, your wife is 7 weeks pregnant!" and ironically he said, "Your pills work splendid!" and we all laugh out laud.

After the TV ultrasound session, we went back to our OB Doctor and gave her the result of the ultrasound and confirmed to us that the yolk is full and in it's proper place but she can only confirmed that the baby is OK as of that day.

Lastly before we left, she gave us vitamins for the baby's development and for my wife's health. We were advice to visit the OB again later this month.

Please pray for my baby and hope everything turn out fine.

One of the Top Performer in Orlando Magic was Dwight Howard contributed 12 points, 15 rebounds and 2 assists, but was not enough to overcome the Lakers. Almost 19,000 basketball fans witness Game 1 of 2009 NBA FINALS at Staples Center, Los Angeles, California.

Been Busy Lately...Renovating and with my Offline Job

I would like to apologized to my fellow bloggers for not returning their ec drop for quite sometime now. I have been very busy with my full time job and renovating my internet shop. After what had happened (robbery)last April 22, 2009, my wife and I have decided to renovate the existing internet shop and put a second floor so that we would be able to stay on it too. My mother-in-law offered the house to us so that we could saved on renting from another apartment and supervised the internet cafe personally.

With a budget of P 100,000.00 (US$ 2,200.00) I will try to build a humble home and renovate my internet shop. Is it possible? Wish me Luck!

Is it good to have a gun in the house or not?

Yesterday, my mother-in-law's house has been rob. It is where my internet cafe operates. We lost P 7,000 worth of cash, some jewelries and some valuable items. Although all my computers were all intact, but yet we're still in shock of what had happened. I'm still trying to figure how did these thieves manage to ransack the house without notice.

My mother-in-law was very disappointed on what had happen. She was so upset, that's why she was suggesting to keep a firearm in the house. I thought she was only kidding about her suggestion, but she was dead serious about the idea.

On my opinion... although having a firearms at home will give these thieves some second thought in breaking an entry but there are other options to make your home secure. That's why instead of my plans in investing on another internet shop I will make used of these funds to secure the house and my existing internet shop.

Well, its good thing no one was harmed with this incident. But on your opinion guys... is it a good idea to keep firearms at home?

Why is it so traffic in Aguinaldo Highway?

Maynilad started the implementation of its pipelaying project along Aguinaldo Highway last April 15 and the said project will be completed on October 2009. It means... it will be a 6 months punishment for us Cavite Commuters.

Today, I left home at around 7:00 AM so that I'll be at the office by 9AM. Would you believe it, I arrived 11:30 AM. Maynilad and Cavite's Local Goverment should have plan this properly. Their construction work should not be during rush hours. Moreover, they should have implemented proper re-routing of PUBs Public Utility Buses and PUJ (Jeepney).

During the project's implementation, motorists are advised to take the following alternate routes to alleviate the traffic along Aguinaldo Highway:

From Manila to Cavite:
1. General Evangelista to Salinas Road
2. Daang Bukid to Salinas Road
3. Imus to Binakayan Road to Patindig Araw

From Cavite to Manila
1. Mambog to Niog
2. Mambog to Molino Road
3. Daang Hari to Molino Road

After Peanut Butter... Now Pistachio Contamination...

After peanut butter recall for Salmonella contamination, now comes from the latest breaking news from the US FDA, they said consumers should stop eating all foods containing pistachios while they attempt to find the source of the possible salmonella contamination.

Based from news reports, the warning came after Kraft Foods Inc. told the US FDA that it had detected salmonella in roasted pistachios through routine product testing. The finding prompted some groceries and pistachio producers to pull out their products.

The report on possible salmonella contamination in pistachios came on the heels of salmonella contamination in some local peanut butter brands.

Last March 25, based from inquirer.net:BFAD have already recall these seven peanut butter products: Mama Peanut Spread Sweet and Creamy; Ludy's Coco Jam Special; Ludy's Coco Jam with Langka; Mama Coco Jam; Ludy's Coco Jam Regular; Ludy's Coco Jam with Peanut and Sunny Cheers Peanut Butter.(inquirer.net)

When the Doctor becomes a Patient....

I've been having this severe coughing during the night for the past two days now. That why today, I went to see the doctor regarding my problem. So before going straight to my office I drop by to the nearest clinic for consultation.

As I went in, the secretary approached me for my problem and afterward asked me to fill-up this Patient’s Medical Information Sheet. I filled-up my name, address, occupation, age and etc. and gave me a number card to line me up. When the doctor was ready to see me, the secretary called my name and I went in right away to the doctor’s office. I right away discussed my problem to Dr. Jay (not his real name) for some minutes. Then he suddenly noticed my occupation on my Medical Information Sheet, and he asked me what do I do? What he really means… “What does a System Analyst do? “. Because I putted “System Analyst” as my occupation in the medical information form. Although I was surprised with his unexpected question, I proudly describe some of the functions of a System Analyst. I told him that I’m responsible in making sure that all the automated business process in my company works accordingly. Then he suddenly said...”Really…” and he also added, “You know I have this problem with my inventory that I almost lost a huge amount in which it turned out dismissing my two personnel because of this problem…”. And I also replied, “Really… so how did you found out? “ Then he explained the whole story in which it took us more than twice as long of my medical consultation.

Lastly, as he closed our conversation he asked me of my professional rate and if I could give him my professional advice regarding problem. I told him that I’ll make him a project proposal after a week. And I hope we could arrange something out of it that will benefit both of us. So as I went out of his office and check out my bill with his secretary, I was surprised and very grateful that he didn’t charge me at all with his consultation fee. It’s funny though… with this experienced I said at the back of my mind… “the Patient Becomes the Doctor.”
